Kyanite doesn’t belong to the traditional birthstone chart. It is not a member of the modern birthstone chart as well. Kyanite also doesn’t belong to the main gemstones associated with the 12 astrological signs.
However, Kyanite can be used as a Birthstone, and there are other ways we can link it to one or another Zodiac sign. The most suitable sign to wear this stone seems to be the sign of Taurus (April 19.– May 20.).
Based on the natural birthstone classification (which, in turn, is based on the color of the stones as their primary quality), we can associate certain months in the year and certain zodiac signs with this gemstone.
Similarly to Labradorite, Blue Kyanite is a stone of the February and March (03.19.-03.19). Indigo kyanite is a stone of January and February (01.20-02.18). Green Kyanite is a stone of April and May (04.19-05.20).
Blue stones promote respect, patience, and new beginnings. Indigo crystals are related with the qualities of spirituality, self-respect, wisdom, and truth. Green crystals promote physical and spiritual healing, growth, and great accomplishments.
If we had to choose only one Zodiac sign associated with this stone (out of the three indicated above), it would be Taurus. Wearing jewlerly made of Kyanite can help all people born under the sign of Taurus to increase their energy levels and improve their mental abilities.
Physical Properties of Kyanite
The compsition of this stone is aluminum silicate, Al2SiO5. The hardness of Kyanite is somewhere between 4.5 and 7, which means that it is not particularly hard. Moreover, the direction along which one tests the hardness seems to plays a significant role, and thus the wide range of it. So if you have one of these stones, take good care of it.
Kyanite can be opaque, semi-transparent, or fully transparent. The latter are usually embedded in stylish jewelry. Certain specimens can display luster similar to the mother of pearl shine.
In larger quantities, it is found in India, Brazil, Australia, and Africa
The name of Kyanite has its roots in the Greek language. Kyanos means “blue”, referring to its most common color.
Metaphysical Properties
Some legends say that the mighty sword of Archangel Michael is made out of Kyanite’s essence. With this sword Archangel Michael brings faith and truth everywhere where He sets foot around our planet.
Kyanite promotes intuition, higher mental abilities, and easier contact with your spirit guides. It grounds the spiritual energy, so that we can manifest it our life through words, emotions, and thoughts.
Kyanite is one of the stones that can be used for chakra balancing and cleansing.
It is especially suited to balance and open the throat chakra. This chakra is the seat of artistic and vocal expression and many people experience considerable problems in this area. If you need to improve your communication skills and artistic expression, Kyanite might be a good stone to do that.
This is a super beneficial stone for all people involved into spiritual and personal growth. It cleanses energy barriers and promotes the flow of subtle energy into the energy body.
The dark blue kyanite variation is associated with the third eye. It promotes visions and prophetic and lucid dreams.
Kyanite is believed to heal the throat, providing healing vibrations to the entire area in and around this energy center.
This stone is used for stress relief, increased physical strength, and improved concentration. It is also believed to lower the high blood pressure, and promotes weight loss.
If you are looking for a nice addition to your birthstone collection, Kyanite, as a natural birthstone of several zodiac signs including Taurus, most certainly has a place in it.
